Memory could not be read
Off and on I get an error message on various different applications
The instruction at 0x........ referenced memory ar "0x,,,,,,,". The memory could not be "read". Does anyone know if this is a hardware or software problem. I can't stand to go through the long process of the help desk if I will wind up having to reformat anyhow TY Kate |

Re: Memory could not be read
Ron,
I would LOVE TO hear about any way to identify the culprit. I too get the message "the instruction.......referenced memory 0x.... can not be read". I have run memory tests, and have confidence in my hardware. I get this message often when I have many things going on in parallel. However, it happens OFTEN - typically requires re-boot many times/day. Getting frustrating. Any input would be appreciated. My next step is to bring my system back to factory installation level and re-load all applications, updates, etc. (ugh!). Ron,
I have a similar problem and would welcome your advice. Mark. Re: Memory could not be read
Having tried all manner of 'fixes', I eventually found that re-installing my
graphics card (Radeon 9800 PRO) drivers did the trick. Mark. Re: Memory could not be read
TODAY I was successful as well.
A thread I folloed pointed me to the NVIDIA display driver. I pulled a recent copy from the NVIDIA website, installed, and I've not had the problem since. I was seeing a crash today at a rate of every half an hour. It has now been more than 8 hours with no issue. How I found the thread to NVIDIA: WHen the system freezes, I answered 'OK' to the message of "...could not be read..." When the application closed, it asked to send a report to MS. THIS time I said 'yes'. Following the upload of the details, there was a 'more information' link which lead me to the NIVIDIA issue. Re: Memory could not be read
Thank you to all of the above for your comments and advice. After living with
this nuisance for many months, I downloaded a Radeon driver update that just resolved this problem for me. I found it at "Marlened" wrote: > TODAY I was successful as well. > A thread I folloed pointed me to the NVIDIA display driver.
