Run Time Error "53" - File Not Found

I have seen one other person pose this question and do not think it was
answered. Every time I switch off I get the error above. I have no
applications running, so the Windows application taskbar tells me. I have
run several registry cleaning tools, completely tuned off error reporting,
reinstalled xp patch 2 but all to no avail. I have also checked in the
application error log and there is nothing there. The final thing I tried
was a scan for missing windows files. Can not remember precisely the command
but found it on google. The error is driving me mad.......

Hi Sean,
Make sure your system clean by scanning for malware and viruses from
another vendor from an on-line scanners!.
Error message when you try to log on to a Windows XP-based computer:
"AuthUserInit Run-time error '53': File not found"

The HaxDoor virus may cause a "STOP 0x00000050" or "STOP 0x0000008e" error
message

Either try the Process Monitor or RegMon or Both to monitor the System and
capture the process running in the background:

Backup your registry Keys if you will intend to edit the registry.
HTH.
