RE: BAD_POOL_CALLER

Its in the same boat as "Pool Allocations",the problem(s) can be isolated
however
& xp actually already has the software to do that with "VERIFIER"...To learn
more,locate kb244617 Also,w/o getting into details,try opening event viewer,
locate the warning/error for it,open, click on the url, this opens kb
help/support
in xp usually with a fix or answer to it....

See http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm and click on the "C2: Bad Pool Caller"
link in the right side column

Also see http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms796120.aspx

Good luck

Re: BAD_POOL_CALLER

Hi, my neighbour is receiving the bad pool caller message, not too sure of
the rest of the stop message, but it may be irrelevant, because he cannot
access windows even in safe mode, the pc lists the drivers it is loading and
hangs at Drivers/lots of text/xup.sys is there any hope or is his system
dead. any help much appreciated

Re: BAD_POOL_CALLER

my neighbour receives the BAD_POOL_CALLER message when he starts up his
machine this is after the disk check routine has run, this happens every time
he starts up, he cannot get the system to start in safe as it just hangs, he
cannot get into XP so he cannot follow the help suggestions already posted
here. Is there any hope for his system or has it died.

many thanks
Frank

If the system is not bootable even into Safe Mode then the next best
option is to do a Repair Install of Windows XP as per the instructions
at http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.html

Note that if the computer has an OEM "system recovery" disk or
partition rather than an actual installation CD then it will likely be
impossible to do a Repair Install. However some OEMs to include some
repair options on the "system recovery" disks.

Good luck
