Audio on laptop is silent after malware removal
I have a Toshiba Satellite A105-S171 laptop and am having issues. It was
infected by smitfraud malware and is now cleaned up. However the sound is really quiet. I can max everything out in all volume controls and even have installed ac3filter and turned the gain up. I can barely hear music at a whispers level. The customer said the sound was working perfectly before the malware but now it is not working properly. I have tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling with a new driver. Also have tried doing a repair install on windows XP and still am having the problems. Any help or information would be much appreciated. TIA Joe Kemco ITP |

There are some settings are known to cause that kind of things. Especially, multi-channel usage (eg 5+1) might need to be calibrated from the manager/mixer software. |

Re: Audio on laptop is silent after malware removal
Ok thanks for you help. The mixers had already been checked. However I feel
like the biggest moron on earth. I spent half the day trying different fixes. I finally found the problem. There is a volume knob on the front next to the audio output ports that you can't see unless you look close because it just blends in. So I did look for it in the beginning but didn't see it. So I wasted half my day when all I had to do was turn that volume knob up. Thanks all for your help.
