Is this a windows issue or a laptop issue or something else?
Sometimes the touchpad on the laptop gets "sticky," and when I try to
move the cursor from one area to the screen to another, it just goes back to the initial spot. I can move the cursor as far as the boundary of the touchpad, but that's it. If I can't access the place on the screen I want to get to, then I have to use keyboard shortcuts to do things. After a while, it seems to just revert to normal. This also seems to happen if I open a PDF file. I'm using FireFox browser on a SP2 OS with a P3 laptop. Any ideas? Thanks. |

And here's a follow-up question:
I have a Cirque touchpad that connects via a standard 9 pin serial port. I put that in, but it did not detect it. Is there a way I can switch over to the Cirque touchpad if the built in one starts to act up? Thanks again. |

Yes, I solved this problem on my laptop by buying a USB mouse. Those touchpads are notorious for acting like that. Jim |

See whether this problem occurs in safemode. Also try this goto device manager uninstall mouse and other pointing devices restart the comp and see if this resolves the problem. |

Re: Is this a windows issue or a laptop issue or something else?
I agree with Jim. MS (and presumably other companies) sells small USB mice
for use with laptops. I have a wired USB model and carry it in my laptop case--it works tons better than my touchpad. You can pick up a wireless model for $20: http://www.buy.com/prod/microsoft-wi.../10370530.html -- Regards Ron Badour MS MVP 1997 - 2008 <monty1945@lycos.com> wrote in message news:7fae754a-3abb-454a-a249-665c87ba0654@l1g2000hsa.googlegroups.com... > Sometimes the touchpad on the laptop gets "sticky," and when I try to > move the cursor from one area to the screen to another, it just goes > back to the initial spot. Happy Christmas Ron. I guess you have flown through a few more time
