can't delete folder - "access denied"
Hello,
I am trying to delete a folder and am getting an access denied message - even when I boot up in safe mode. It says "Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." The directory actually is the Firefox directory under "Application Data". I went so far as to uninstall Firefox but still cannot remove the directory. I post here because I figure that removing a directory is an operating system issue. Thanks,Ben Advertisement |

Either take the ownership for the Fox file/folder or download this tool: How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308421 You can delete using the AutoRuns for Windows v8.72 http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys.../Autoruns.mspx Also this tool is great : http://www.ccleaner.com HTH. nass ----- www.nasstec.co.uk |

Re: can't delete folder - "access denied"
I installed a free program called "Unlocker" in the end. You right click
anything you want unlocked and it shows you all processes that have a connection to that folder or file and you have the option to click "unlock". The Firefox folder was being locked by a process called guard.exe belonging to AVG antivirus. I unlocked the folder and removed it without problems. |
