Seem to have lost some features of MS Live Search Maps. OS is Windows XP
Sp2 updated on a regular basis. Used to be able to zoom into a section of a
"driving directions" route to see more detail. Now Internet Explored will
hang up if I try. Also happening on my Vista based notebook. Is this the
way it should be or is there something I need to do to get this function
back?

It's likely to be the setting to block popups. IE, tools menu.
