How to back-up Registry?
I have a back-up CDRW but don't recall how I did that one. It's time to do
it, I think, of should I do it... Have XP Pro, Office 2003, all updates current, Windows Firewall ON, Avast, Ad Aware (just removed Spybot b/c I'm blind and couldn't control it easily with adaptive software). Thank you very much. -- Telle est la vie, Moi |

Choose the backup Wizard and then choose to back up the System State. From there it will do everything for you. The System State includes the Registry and all of the support files necessary to boot and run a computer. You are right to back this up periodically. I do mine whenever I install any software or programs. Feel free to request clarification if needed. Regards, Pop` |

Re: How to back-up Registry?
Normally to start backup, you click Start; Programs;
Accessories; System Tools; backup. When the program starts, click Backup Wizard, Advanced, then Next, click the third choice which is Only back up the system state, and then click Next. Then click Browse, and Cancel when it tells you to put a disk in Drive A, and finally choose a backup location from the explorer like window that appears. You cannot back up to CD or DVD; it has to go to a disk drive then copy to DVD or CD later if you need to. Choose a drive and folder, click Save, Next and Finish. At that point it will start the backup. Gee, that's a lot of words; I hope you can follow that well on the computer. Should you need the information, the backup program's exe is located in C:\windows\system32 as ntbackup.exe. It can be run from there by double clicking on it but that is a huge folder with hundreds of files in it. Hope this helps, Pop` Laughingstar~* wrote: > oh my "nt backup"?? don't fret my computer talks to > me (reads the > monitor)...just tell me where to find "nt backup" -- > > Operating isn't a problem; maintain is. PS - Re: How to back-up Registry?
PS - It may take 5 minutes or so to complete the
backup, depending on the speed of your machine and the size of the files. Pop` |

PPS - Re: How to back-up Registry?
Here is a quicker way to start the backup program:
Start; Run; enter "ntbackup" in the program to run box and click OK. It will then open for you. Pop` |

Thank you very much. Use ERUNT. It makes a complete backup of the registry every day when you boot. It keeps 30 backup copies. That should be enough. |

Understand, but the web site's a bit confusing for a "Screen Reader." I
haven't a clue where to "START" and I'm in the USA. ;-)) "BobN" <bob@xspamx.com> wrote in message news:1bl0qjpk84m5m.4lukkk5oboos.dlg@40tude.net... > On Tue, 4 Dec 2007 12:05:38 -0600, Laughingstar~* wrote: > >> I have a back-up CDRW but don't recall how I did that one.
