Strange Desktop Behavior
I am having some problems using desktop icons on a laptop. The laptop and
icons have been fine since I got the laptop but most recently, if i click on a desktop icon (the latest example was MS Word) - the recycle bin opened. If I move the Word icon to a different position on the screen, Word will open!! This does not happen all the time though, after a reboot it will work normally for some time then happen again with different desktop icons opening different programs. Another problem I have is the scroll bars in programs like Internet Explorer. If I use the mouse scroll button or slide bar in IE and scroll down a page, if i let go or stop scrolling, the page shoots back to the beginning. There is also lots of screen flickering going on, by that I mean the icons/text etc not the actual screen. I have anti-virus installed and up-to-date and a scan detects no viruses. I have also updated the video drivers, chipset drivers etc to rule out any bugs. Anybody had any similar issues? |

Re: Strange Desktop Behavior
boot into safemode
and see if you experience the same difficulties as in normal mode: also, boot into safemode with networking and test out your programs and the desktop as well, but in this mode you can test your pc with an internet connection enabled. if your pc runs perfect in safemodes, then this is a clue. but if your pc is dysfunctional in safemode then this is a clue as well. -- db ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·..><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯` ·...¸><)))º>¸. ><)))º>·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><))) º> .. Re: Strange Desktop Behavior
Thanks for the reply, already tried Safe Mode which resulted in the same
thing happening. Decided to reset the laptop to factory OS restore and the fault still occurred so think this is a hardware fault.
