Twain Problem (Windows XP Home)

I am using Twain 5 to run my Epson scanner under my Administrator account.
If I try to use Twain under the "Guest" or a limited "Named" account, with
the Administrator logged off, it fails to run, with a message that the
device can't be found. It does work, though, with these accounts if the
Administrator is logged on.

I have contacted Epson, who tell me to try enabling "Load & unload device
drive" for all users in the Windows Security settings. Can anyone tell me
how to do this?

In the control panel, select Administrative tasks.
Then select Local Security Policy.
There will be an item which enables/disables loading of device drivers for
normal users.

Since I am currently logged into a limited account, I can't give you chapter
and verse because I don't have the correct
privilege.

Re: Twain Problem (Windows XP Home)

Thank you for your reply Jim.
Unfortunately there is no "Administrative Tasks" in my Control Panel, only
"Administrative Tools" and I can't find "Local Security Policy" there.

Does what you recommend apply to XP Home edition?

I have tried searching Help for those terms and have not come up with
anything.

Your comments will be most appreciated, Daz

Re: Twain Problem (Windows XP Home)

I have found out that Local Security Policy isn't available with XP Home,
and so I cannot carry out this action.
