A directory is a folder. An ordinary directory is just like a folder in
Windows Explorer.
A virtual directory is a pointer to a folder located elsewhere.

if you think of your hard disk as a filing cabinet, then a directory (or
Folder as MS calls them) is like a drawer in that filing cabinet...
