Standby - Black screen

When I wake up my laptop from a standby no picture appears, the screen
remains black. The laptop shows the signs from waking up from a standby.

I had the same problem (black screen after standby). I contacted Microsoft who sent me a hotfix (KB815304). This produced an error when starting the PC again. Then I chose "Send error report" and was led to the website of my graphics driver (Matrox). I downloaded the latest drivers and software and after that the problem was solved.
