Xp gives us the option to make our personal folders private. I had chosen to do so for my folders (including My documents folder). Then, due to a virus, i've had to reinstall XP.
Now when I try to access my old My documents folder (and all other personal folders, eg. the user profile folder under 'Documents and Settings') i get a message saying 'Access Denied'. ![]() ![]() ![]() Is there any way to bypass this? Plese help!! ![]() ![]() Additional Useful Notes for troubleshooting: 1. Did not format before reinstalling windows. 2. Windows reinstalled into the same location where it was installed earlier (i.e. C:\Windows) 3.Profile names are unchanged. i.e. I'm using the same profile name i used in the previous installation of xp. |

Re: HELP! Access denied when accessing My Doc folder on reinstalling xp.
Yest it is. Try to change the partition mode from NTFS to FAT32 and the protection will be lost, copy your folders wherever you want and go back to ntfs.
good luck. |
