Re: ADOBE FLASH PLAYER INSTALL PROBLEM
Is your Caps Lock key on?
Uninstall with Adobe's Flash Player Uninstaller: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/f...ash_player.exe Then re-install this full version: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get...r_active_x.msi ju.c "chasuk" <chasuk@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:9FE20B73-A2C9-4E60-94F3-2A4598D1977B@microsoft.com... > RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED DELL INSPIRON LAPTOP RUNNING WIN XP PRO AND > WHILST > IN YAHOO MESSENGER GOT A NOTE ASKING ME TO DOWNLOAD ADOBE FLASH > PLAYER. > FOLLOWED THE LINK TO ADOBE AND DOWNLOADED BUT WHEN TRYING TO INSTALL > GOT THE > MESSAGE '' INSTALL FAILED--ERROR 19166''. > THEN CHANGED SOME SECURITY SETTINGS AS SUGGESTED BUT STILL NO INSTALL. > CAN SOMEONE HELP PLEASE. |

RE: ADOBE FLASH PLAYER INSTALL PROBLEM
Thanks ju.c Followed your instructions and all worked fine until today
when I went on YouTube and the message was on screen again '' you either have java turned off or install latest version of Adobe flash player''. I assume that as all worked ok for 2 days the java side of things must be 'on'. How do you check if its on or off ? Re: ADOBE FLASH PLAYER INSTALL PROBLEM
Something may be blocking Java or Flash. If they are being blocked you'll get a message to install them even when they're installed.
Did you try to set your Internet Zone security to default? In IE open Tools\Internet Options\Security press button "Default level". Then go to Advanced (Tools\Internet Options\Advanced), scroll down to Java and see if the check box is checked. Is the above OK? ju.c "chasuk" <chasuk@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:58847BC6-449B-4F80-AC1C-EFF7DA01FCA3@microsoft.com... > Thanks ju.c Followed your instructions and all worked fine until today > when I went on YouTube and the message was on screen again '' you either have > java turned off or install latest version of Adobe flash player''. It is not in the Advanced tab, it is under custom settings for the security zone such as "Internet zone" or "Trusted Sites". |

Re: ADOBE FLASH PLAYER INSTALL PROBLEM
"On the Advanced page I dont see java."
If you don't see Java listed then Java is either not installed or is damaged. "It is not in the Advanced tab" Simply an untrue statement. Read this page and say sorry, chasuk: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml From that page: ---------------------------------------------- Please follow these instructions to enable the Sun JRE though your Web browser: Internet Explorer 4.x and Up Click "Tools" --> "Internet Options" Select the Advanced Tab, and scroll down to "Java (Sun)" Check the box next to the "Use Java 2" version Next, select the Security Tab, and select the "Custom Level" button Scroll down to "Scripting of Java applets" Make sure the "Enable" radio button is checked. Click OK to save your preference. ---------------------------------------------- ju.c "chasuk" <chasuk@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:628226AC-4C90-4E57-8F25-C0717D77F5BE@microsoft.com... > On the Advanced page I dont see java . That's great to hear!
To satisfy my curiosity, do you know what the fix was? ju.c "chasuk" <chasuk@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:83FB68B0-D361-49A8-820B-5ED93D1FEC54@microsoft.com... > Many thanks to all.
