Please help!!! Can't connect to internet!!!

I was in the middle of a very important project requiring a PC. All of a
sudden, I find that I can't connect to the internet. This is really bad.
I need this fixed immediately.

My windows xp is not wireless, so I checked the cables. The computer is
connected to the router, and the router obviously works because I can
access the computer from this mac. I looked at "Network Connections"
and it looks like it's connected. One of the connections says:

Local Area Connection
Connected, Firewalled
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Ad

I even connected the computer directly to the modem. I still had no
luck. Any ideas? Again, this is urgent. Please help me.

Click Start, Run, type:

netsh winsock reset

Press Enter key

Restart the system

I tried the winsock reset thing and had no luck. I'll try the
downloadable app now. In the mean time, this might help you help me.

"ipconfig/all":

Be sure to put a space between ipconfig and the /all.

The response should be a listing of your IP address
your physical address (MAC address)
Your subnet mask address
Your default gateway address
Your DSN server address
Your DHCP address

Actually, "IPCONFIG /ALL" works just fine, always has.

I tried the Winsock repair thing. Now, when the computer boots up, it
says "Invalid system disk
Replace disk, and then press any key"

What should I do? If my computer it broken, I don't care as long as my
files can be recovered. I'm not going to sue you.

...now if my files are gone, that's a whole other situation...........
