Yes, it was set. I turned it off and since there was no automatic start.
Sorry Ron, I didn't see it when I checked for it following your
recommandation
But why? I never changed BIOS settings since I bought this computer. Could
the install of SP3 either changed BIOS settings (I doubt) or the LAN
behaviour ? I want to understand

I can see no relationship between SP3 and the BIOS setting and that's why my
earlier post was worded as it was. However, it was fairly clear to me that
the BIOS setting was responsible for the machine being started. How the
BIOS change occurred--not a clue other than "stuff" happens. :-)
