Stop alphabetical sort in program menus and favorites

I like to organise my program menus and favorites in non alphabetical order.
Each time I restart my pc they go back to alphabetical order. How do you stop
XP and IE 7 from sorting menus and favorites in alphabetical order? Thanks.

This is dumb but it is functional:
Someone else mentioned that you could rename the items to:
01 - xxxxxx
02 - xxxxxx
03 - xxxxxx
etc.

This way it would sort by the #'s.
Its a bit of work if you don't find anything better.
There have been other threads about this, and you might look at some of
the internet explorer groups rather than a windowsxp group.

See if line 54 helps: Save Settings on Exit - right hand side

Re: Stop alphabetical sort in program menus and favorites

This is a new thing. My PC only started doing this about two weeks ago.
It's driving me up the wall. Almost every time I reopen IE6 my
favorites have been sorted alphabetically. Prior to this, favorite
sorting had remained stable for years.

Something in my XP system has changed to cause this new behaviour - but
what?
