SAfe To Remove Harware procedure

AS I remember, everytime I went to remove plugged-harware, HP personal media
drives, USB connected scanners, external floppies, etc., I needed to go
through an icon in the Start-Up Task Bar to avoid getting a warning message.
Last week, suddenly the icon was no longer there. Was there an update
recently which removed the necessity to do this, or am I now performing an
unsafe procedure by just disconnecting?
Anyone hear of a change lately or is there a file or start up task I need to
re-insert?
Thanks

RE: SAfe To Remove Harware procedure

First , make sure that the Safely Remove Hardware icon is not set as “Always
Hide“.
1. Right click Taskbar and select Properties
2. On the Taskbar tab click on the “Customize” button. If it is blurred out,
you need to check “Hide inactive icons“.
3. You’ll see a Customize Notification options. At the Current Items, select
“Always Show” or "Hide when Inactive" for the “Safely Remove Hardware” icon.

If still it does not show:
The manual way of bringing back the Safely Remove Hardware window is by
running a command. Go to Start, Run, type in the following line and click OK.
The command below is case sensitive.

rundll32 shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL hotplug.dll

That will bring up the “Safely Remove Hardware” dialog which you can use to
stop the USB device that you want to unplug.
