Just a thought.. try a powered USB hub for the WD HD. I suspect it's
using too much of the available power.

Hi Joe,

tried that already too, didn't help either.

Until recently the entire setup was working just fine. What's weird though,
is the entire problem arising coincides with me (successfully) trying to get
rid of the explorer crashes due to Adobe Flash. However, I believe that's
just a coincidence, I can't think of link between the two issues.
