Add/Remove Windows Components
Anytime I try to add a program, such as "fax", I get a message saying it
cannot find one of the fx files. The files are in c:\i386, but when I point the computer to that file, it cannot find them. Even when I put my restore XP sp2 disc in and point the computer to i386 on the disc, it cannot find them ? what is the problem ?? thanks |

It's a CD that Dell created and, yeah, it's real but not a retail or generic OEM type real and Dell may have decided that you don't need the fax feature. It's obviously not "real" enough to do the job :-) That said, your only recourse is to call Dell for support because Microsoft will not support real restore CDs from Dell. -- Alias To email me, remove shoes |

Re: Add/Remove Windows Components
he deleted and reloaded the modem software and then I was able to install
the fax program from the add/delete windows components. Nice to have folks willing to help rather than being cynical. "Peter Foldes" <> wrote in message news:.gbl...
