What does this error msg mean? "ConfigDir" not found in Registry
Whenever I right-click a file or folder to produce the pop-up menu so that I
can delete or do other admin stuff, I encounter this error msg: Key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Corel\CorelDRAW\1 0.0" Value: "ConfigDir" not found in the Registry The comp hangs for a few seconds, before I can click OK, then the 2nd error msg comes up: The base UI Language directory is invalid This 2 error msg would repeat for a few times while I click their OK button. repeating, taskbar would vanish and then restore again, before the comp resume back to normal. Whenever I right-click again, the same problem would recur. May I know what is the problem? How do I go about rectifying it? |

How do I go about rectifying it? The problem has to do with Corel Draw 10 - as is shown. A Google search brings up a few possibilities... 1. Click Start - Run 2. Type Regedit and hit the Enter key 3. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Corel\CorelDRAW\10.0 4. Verify there is an entry called ConfigDir 5a. If this entry exists, rightclick it and choose Modify. Verify the path is the installation path (ie. c:\Programs Files\Corel\Graphics 10\Config) 5b. If this entry does not exist, right click on the right hand side and choose New String Value 6. Rename it ConfigDir and hit Enter 7. Right click the new string and choose modify 8. Enter the correct installation path in the Value Data field (ie. C:\Program Files\Corel\Graphics10\Config) 9. Click OK to close the Edit String window and click Registry, Exit There is also the possibility of a permissions issue... -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way |

Re: What does this error msg mean? "ConfigDir" not found in Regist
Hi, I can't find the folder CorelDRAW/10.0 actually. I've tried searching for
this error msg on the web, and there are a few replies. But the replies they got were to grant permissions, which I can see is pretty complicated. Sometimes another error msg comes up: Key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\" Value: "ConfigDir" not found in the Registry I'm lost... and it's getting really irritating. Re: What does this error msg mean? "ConfigDir" not found in Registry
I have the same problem as well, except I know for a fact there should not be a reg entry for corel draw as I un-installed it a long time ago.
I have been unable to find any way to fix this issue and it drives me nuts as I get this error whenever I change folders, which I do very often when moving files around. The cut/paste icons on my folder menu help some but it makes it awkward at times. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cat |

Re: What does this error msg mean? "ConfigDir" not found in Registry
Look under the following registry locations and delete any values related to Corel Draw o orConfigDir.
HKLM\Software\Classes\*\ShellEx\ContextMenuHandler s HKLM\Software\Classes\AllFileSystemObjects\ShellEx \ContextMenuHandlers HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\ShellEx\ContextMen uHandlers HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\Shellex\PropertySh eetHandlers HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\Shellex\CopyHookHa ndlers HKLM\Software\Classes\Folder\Shellex\ColumnHandler s HKLM\Software\Classes\Folder\ShellEx\ContextMenuHa ndlers HKLM\Software\Classes\Directory\Background\ShellEx \ContextMenuHandlers You can use Autoruns, and look in the "Explorer" tab and uncheck anything related to Corel Draw or ConfigDir

Re: What does this error msg mean? "ConfigDir" not found in Registry
Nothing in the mentioned reg keys. What is autoruns?
I'm wondering if finding a copy and reinstalling and then uninstalling it again would fix it. Its even starting to occur when I use the cut, copy and paste links on the folder bar. It would be nice if Corel would make sure their trail software doesn't ***** up peoples computers after they uninstall their software I hate Corel software now and avoid it like the plague. I've had this problem for a long time (a year at least) and installing the newer corel draw does nothing for this error. |

Download Autoruns from here : http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx
run it, wait for the entire list to get populated, go to the explorer tab, and look for any entries matching corel draw or corel and uncheck them. Log off, re log on and test the right clicks. |
