missing or corrupt files

When I tried to turn my computer, I am getting the following messege:

"Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
Windows\system32\config\system
you can attempt to reapair this fiel by starting windows setup using the
original set up CD-ROM . Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair."

I followed the steps, nothing is happening while i do this and I keep on
getting the same message over and over agin. The reinstallation CD is-windows
XP home edition includes service pack 2.

I would really appreciate if you could helpme with this problem

Thanks
SC

Re: missing or corrupt files

This very concept was explained to you less than a week ago. Perhaps you
should have your memory tested, as it seems to be failing.
