How to Configure Automatic default printer switching based on location in Windows 7
One of the most exciting features of Windows 7 is automatic default printer switching based on the location. This feature is very useful to the business laptop users.
In the previous versions of Windows, we could have only one default printer in our system. But in Window 7, you can set default printers based on the location. For example, when you are in the office your default printer is the network printer but when you go home your default printer is automatically switched to your local ink jet printer.
Automatic default printer switching detects your computer for network connection changes and uses its database of printers to switch your printer.
Steps to configure the printers for automatic switching depending upon the location:
1. Click in the Start button and type Device and Printers and press Enter.
2. Select one of the printers you want to make default.
3. Select Manage Default Printers from the toolbar.
4. Now a Manage default printers window will open up. Choose option:- Change my default printer when I change networks.
5. Select Network from the drop down box and select printer for that network. Click Add button.
6. Repeat step 5 for adding another printer and then click OK.
