I just got 2 errors on my computer, can you help?

My computer operates on Windows 7 (I'm also using Directx 10 Runtime).
The error is as follows :

fatal direct x error
esult:0*80070057:e_invalidarg
the game will now exit.try starting the game with/failsafe if the problem persist.
(something similar) What does this error mean? Can it be solved?

Have you tried updating/reinstalling DirectX? Is Windows up-to-date?

Thanks for the help. That didn't solve the problem though, unfortunately. I did try a utility tool online (I think the name is SafePCRepairs) but it didn't help. Further research led me to this site Error 0x80070057 Repair Guide | Windows Error Support . Anymore suggestions as to how I can solve this problem? Any other help?

Hmm. How much inconvenience would it be for you to completely reinstall Windows etc? It's what I would do in this type of situation. I understand if you would rather not do that though, there are several members of this forum that are smarter and more experienced than I; one of them may have a better/quicker solution
