T40 hotkey not working

Hi Everyone,

In response to an occasional slowing down of the response of the keyboard, I
installed the latest drivers for IBM's hotkey feature in order to remove it.
I also downloaded the two extra drivers it said I needed.

I haven't come across the slowing down thing recently, but that doesn't mean
it's not there...

But I have a new problem, in that whenever I set 'enable key assignments' in
the 'keyboard customizer utility', the key assignments only work for as long
as the laptop is on. Restart it, and it's off again!!!

The installation said that I should de-install the original keyboard
customiser utility - however, this was nowhere to be seen, so I installed
the new one anyway...

Any help you could give would be great, thanks.

Duncan.

Hey, sorry I'm not much help to you, but I find exactly the same thing
on my T41p. So if you do find a fix, please let me know! :)

Cheers,
Peter

Hey, have to agree with Duncan James Murray on this one: thanks for
solving this problem, really impressed. I don't suppose you have a fix
for the battery monitor crashing? If you haven't already noticed, the
rundll32 process responsible for the green battery status bar next to
the systray appears to crash and take as much of the system resource as
it can, after a while. I thought I had a fix, but as far as I can tell
the only way to fix it is to disable it.

Any ideas?

How do you know if it's crashed? I don't think I've seen my one crash.

Duncan.

Funny coincidence. Got my R50p today and just run into the same problem
here. Asking Google only showed up questions so I had to find the solution
myself :)

The Keyboard Customizer gets started twice (as service and as "normal"
application). Our manually assigned keyboard mappings seem only to be
recognized by the application instance and not the service. If the service
starts faster than the application our mappings get lost. So just deactivate
the "IBM KCU Service" (right click "properties" in the services window) and
everything should work fine then.

hope this helps
