Boingo and Router Connections At Home

I went out of town about two weeks ago and back into the country through JFK. I bought time on their Boingo system with my netbook, and so did my husband on his laptop. When we got home we are having the worst luck staying connected to our router. We stay on and then off we go. It appears we are still on, we are using XP and the icon in the systray shows we are connected, but we are not. I have to left click the router connection and repair constantly.

I removed the Boingo program from my computer (using my control panel) but it still disconnects.

I am not entirely sure it's a Boingo problem but it started to happen when we put Boingo on our computers. There is also a circumstance that Time-Warner put in fiber-optic cable in our area for their service (which we don't subscribe to).

It is all very curious. Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing this disconnect? What can be done about it? Thank you.

Can you post a snapshot of a command prompt with typing in "ipconfig /all" (without quotes)
please.

Have you tried repairing the connection?
Is your connection WIFI and encrypted? Maybe someone near by is stealing your WIFI connection which can be hendering your bandwidth which could be knocking you off your connection.

If it is not encrypted you should consider encryption? If it is already encrypted already and only with WEP I recommend changing the encryption to WPA2-AES which is more secure than WEP. WEP can be hacked into.

I read somewhere to crack AES encryption would take all the computers in the world over the Internet working together a year to crack. Though I know the CIA, FBI has to have apps that can do that in minutes or hours.
