Need Ideas To Improve our Forum

Just thought of reminding about the Videos section I added a few months ago. Honestly I forgot about it at that time, but I'm sure it'll be an added advantage.

Here is the link:
http://www.techtalkz.com/videos.html

I'll add a link to the Navbar now.

Of course we do have a review section. But it lacks order/categorization. Wy not categorize now itself when the work is less...Difficult to do when large number of reviews have accumulated rite? New reviews can be easily posted in the respective categories from now on! What i mean by local brands for eg: Take multimedia speakers...We have heard a lot of Altec lanseng and creatives...But what about other cheaper alternatives ?? I mean..like John barrel, Mitsun..Have u guys heard of these brands? But none of the tech mags post a review of them. Why not we??That will make techtalkz special and unique!

As far as video reviews i wasnt aware of it until u posted the link here in this thread. Why not put it under Reviews-->video section?

Ya..I know money making ideas attract a lot of spam. Thats why everyone needs a reliable site to review them.So that our discussion forum will be active. Our shout boxes will always be noisy!!!!!!!!!! Once everyone has shared their opinion then we can take a plunge into the job posted here..

Lets say...Ad clicking job..A single person cant make enough income clicking those ads which offer few cents..But what if we had atleast ten referrals under us? Surely our monthly income will increase..So what i mean by this is why not assign a minimum of ten referrals to all the advanced members in this forum and more for the admin and founder????

we have lots of members. If we assign each of them as an advanced member referral and make them sign up to those ad sites definitely it will atleast help in getting enough revenue to host this site.

may be u can request all of the members to sign up under Ur referral( i mean admin hosting this site)then U will get enough referral amount in a month to host this site..I dunno whether i have made it clear rnt...But at least u get the point??!!!!!!!!

if u want further clarification i can post a schematic pic..This is just an idea..u guys an tell whether this will work out rnt..

Games!!! really ?

Then they should be really good ones and those many of the borings at Zapak and others.

We can have a look at www.yoyogames.com

They have many good games, which are not flash based but are windows executive, but playable in browser through an unique system of plug-ins. They are of high quality 2d games.

I think these games can be embeded into techtalkz forum page, one every week, to give taste of new games for all users interested.

For example a nice game is ... http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/49892

Embed code:
Code:
<div style="width: 177px; background: #000; margin: 30px; border: 1px solid #424242;"><a href="http://www.yoyogames.com"><img src="http://www.yoyogames.com/images/embed/game_tag_bg.gif" alt="YoYoGames" style="border: 0; padding: 0; margin: 0;" /></a><div style="text-align: center; padding-top: 5px;"><a href="http://www.yoyogames.com/games/embed/49892"><img alt="Btd_screen1" src="http://www.yoyogames.com/extras/image/name/san1/786/132786/medium/btd_screen1.jpg" style="border: 2px solid #fff;" /></a></div><p style="font-size: 0.8em; font-family: arial; color: #c0c0c0; padding: 15px 10px; margin: 0;"><a href="http://www.yoyogames.com/games/embed/49892?refer=25288" style="color: #ccff00;">ByteAlity Tower...</a><br /><strong>Added: </strong>23 August 2008<br /><strong>By:</strong> Erik Leppen</p></div>

That's a good point mate. Btw. It's a long time since I've seen you here. :)

If techtalkz.com was filled with high quality and lots colorful pictures of some ads, games and tech. People will be here in no time!

We have 16000 members here, but number of active members are very few. Why??
[.....]

My first thought is that this site is multi-dimensional (OS-wise) and clearly
the more active members are multi-OS-knowledgeable and so there
is no 'common-allegiance' to a particular OS or Linux-distro/family.

That's GOOD from an 'unbiased-opinion' point-of-view, but
the only "bond" among members will be some general 'tech-respect',
but beyond that, much less "I feel like I'm among friends who have made
similar choices."

For example, I feel 'bonded' with members of the Mepis(Linux-distro) forums
(it's called "MepisLovers" for exactly that reason!)
because it's my favorite distro. But, my feeling is that that is less-likely to be
able to happen in such a 'generic' set of forums such as this one.

[Another: Would you rather go to a party where you knew no one previously, or a party
that was a gathering of all your fellow football-team members?]

How about a group that simply loves partying no matter who is present ?

Your point is valid mate. We're a generic forums and as such 'user loyalty' factor is a big problem. In the beginning we used to tend more to tech discussion but later the focus changed to end-user support.

As you can see there is a fan forum for every software/company/brand in the web. So being specific is difficult. More over the team here are not 'fans' of a particular product/service, but general computer & tech enthusiasts.

So, yeah, it's good in one way but problematic in many other ways. :)

As a solution we can form groups of users interested in different areas and focus on their respective categories.
