corrupt installation database

I get message saying corrupt installation database when I tried to update.
Cannot reinstall disc. Cannot uninstall office. Setup or uninstall starts and
immediately shuts off. Did diagnostic, setup diagnostic said some repairs
could not be done since source disc was not available. Disc is in machine.
Will not setup. Disc is fine, tried on another computer.
