I ended up with Ubuntu but that isn't the important point. I was surprised at how easily I downloaded it (free), installed it (fast, and no secret serial numbers), and immediately installed Thunderbird (my favorite email software). Pushing a few keys brought me a load of suggested updates, and then I was actually doing some useful computer work. I then pointed it to many of my older windows created documents and was able to open and use them. Don't be afraid to give linux a try, the worst would be that you later deleted it. It won't cost you a dime to find out. I even loaded it on a different old computer as a second booting option (Win 2000 was primary) and ven that worked well. I learn something new every day, if I keep my eyes open. Wilby Sponsored Links |

That's probably all the most-reasonable of the Linux community want. Or anything for that matter. Don't let anyone make up your mind about anything...not matter how many times they preach/put down solution A or preach/putdown solution B. If you try out (whatever) for yourself, give it an honest shot, then your opinion means something and it counts. |
